NCAA basketball rankings: Kansas Jayhawks No. 1 in preseason AP poll

ACC has six teams ranked and Gonzaga is top-three.

With the 2018-19 college basketball season getting underway in two weeks, the preseason AP Poll was released on Monday. Kansas enters the season as the No. 1 squad, with Bill Self’s squad looking to make the Final Four for the second straight season. Kentucky, Gonzaga, Duke, and Virginia round out the top five.

The ACC leads the way with seven teams represented, including three in the Top-10. The SEC is second with five teams ranked, followed by the Big 12 with four and the Big Ten and Pac-12 each with three. Villanova, the reigning national champions, check in at No. 9 and are the only Big East squad in the Top-25.

Gonzaga, which finished last season with a loss to Florida State in the Sweet 16, comes in at No. 3.
