Jeremy Liggins Commits To LSU Tigers Over Ole Miss & Mississippi State

LSU Steals Liggins from Ole Miss!

Jeremy Liggins, an excellent quarterback/athlete recruit out of Oxford (Ms.) Lafayette High School, has committed to the LSU Tigers over the Ole Miss Rebels and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Liggins also holds offers from Alabama, Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee and USC. That's quite the offer list. The jumbo athlete visited LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Auburn. Liggins' decision did not play well in Oxford, where he had a getaway car waiting and an escort from equine police after making his announcement at a local restaurant.

Liggins described the process as a "long-ass stressful process." "I'm gonna get one place and gonna look one way," Liggins said. He did not clarify the statement. Liggins cited LSU's recent success and the ability to win SEC championships. "I'm used to winning," said Liggins.

Liggins is thought to be an athlete by some because he is a rather huge quarterback prospect at 6'3" and 270 pounds. Some teams recruited Liggins to play defensive line or tight end. But he is insistent that he will play quarterback. He has excellent athleticism for a recruit of his size, regardless of position, and has a lot of options.

Liggins should be able to flourish in a spread system in which he can run and force smaller defenders to tackle him one-on-one. If he is going to play quarterback at LSU, the Tigers will need to spread things out a bit more.

This is a major loss for Ole Miss, as the Rebels thought they would keep this local prospect home.
