Devin Butler, a cornerback recruit, has committed to Notre Dame via a Tweet from his Twitter account and a report by Notre Dame site One Foot Down. He stars for Washington (DC) Gonzaga, and claims offers from Michigan, Penn State and Wisconsin, along with many from the ACC and Big East.
Butler is a consensus three-star recruit, and measures in at 6'1" and 180 pounds. He is a decent prospect, and as One Foot Down writer Jim Miesle explains, he is very important for the Irish because of all the bad luck Notre Dame has had recruiting the position:
Butler is a cornerback that fits Bob Diaco's profile perfectly-big, physical and athletic. He should add some immediate depth in the secondary, but it will be a challenge for him to crack the two-deep as a freshman. Like most defensive backs, I think he gets a lot of reps on special teams before seeing significant action on defense.
Notre Dame has been on fire of late and Butler is the 10th commitment for the Irish in the class of 2013.
I'M COMMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF NOTRE DAME!!!! #GOIRISH
