USC received two big commitments to their 2014 recruiting class Wednesday, as four-star prospects Jonathan Lockett and Claudeson Pelon committed to the Trojans.
Lockett, a cornerback from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Ca., is rated a four-star by the 247sports composite. He is considered the 22nd-best cornerback in the class and the 27th-best player in the state of California. Pelon, a defensive end from Arizona, is also rated a four-star. He is considered the 15th-best JuCo player in the class, the third-best strong-side defensive end and the second-best player in the state.
Lockett was previously committed to Washington, and Pelon was considered a Washington lean. Former Huskies head coach Steve Sarkisian left the program for USC, and looks to be bringing some of his recruits with him.
USC's recruiting was expected to pick up with the hiring of Sarkisian, and the Trojans appear to be benefiting from instant dividends.
The composite rates Pelon and Lockett as USC's fourth and fifth best commits, respectively. The Trojans' small class ranks 41st in the nation and sixth in the Pac-12.
