Ohio State's recruiting class features a monster pass rushing prospect in Joey Bosa, a defensive end considered a five-star prospect by some recruiting services. The defensive end was the first to send in his national letter of intent to Ohio State.
Bosa is universally placed among the top 10 defensive ends in his class. What turns heads is his strength: After his committal, Land-Grant Holy Land fawned over a video of Bosa squatting 500 pounds. It's something SB Nation recruiting expert Bud Elliott also noted when he reviewed Bosa in April:
Bosa stands 6'6 and weighs in at 260 pounds. He has an excellent short-area quickness and is much too powerful for the vast majority of high school offensive linemen he faces. Bosa has excellent hands and is quite advanced for a high school player. He is able to attack the half-man and get the opposing blocker off balance. His awareness is good, and he does not get caught over-pursuing.
The Ft. Lauderdale native committed to Ohio State in April after an unofficial visit, picking them over a wide list of schools including Alabama, Florida, Florida State as well as Big Ten teams like Wisconsin, Iowa, and of course, Ohio State's rival, Michigan. The Under Armour All-American never wavered, staying committed to the Buckeyes.
He's one of several major incoming prospects at the position for the Buckeyes: Tyquan Lewis and Tracy Sprinkle are four- and three-star recruits at the defensive end position. They'll need to get up to speed quickly, as Nathan Williams and John Simon, Ohio State's starters on each side in 2012, both graduate. Noah Spence and Se'von Pittman were highly touted 2012 prospects who will likely have an opportunity to factor in next year, but Bosa, Lewis, and Sprinkle shouldn't be far behind.
