Alabama received a commitment Friday on the same day it extended the offer. O.J. Smith, of Bossier City (La.) Airline High School, tweeted that he had committed to the Alabama Crimson Tide Friday.

Smith is currently unrated by most of the major services, which shows just how early we are in the recruiting process.
He stands 6'2 and depending on the listing, weighs about 320 pounds. He's a very wide and stout prospect, and profiles as someone who would fit as a nose guard for Alabama. Smith also held offers from a few other major schools. Two days before committing, he gave this interview to 247sports:
"Of the schools that have offered Mississippi State is on me the hardest," said the 6-foot-2 and 305-pound Smith. "Then outside of my offers, Oklahoma is showing interest and they were by the school this week. My coaches feel that either Oklahoma or Oklahoma State may offer me. Mississippi State was also here for spring practice and so was Louisiana-Lafayette and a bunch of other schools."
How things change in recruiting.
Smith is Alabama's seventh commitment of the 2014 class.
