Many top recruits showed out Sunday at the Columbus Nike Football Training Camp on the campus of The Ohio State University. But only five were selected to go to The Opening, an exclusive summer showcase of top football talent.
Josh Smith was one of the five. Out of Murfreesboro (Tenn.) Oakland High School, Smith had a very strong day and paired with his impressive highlight film, it was enough to earn the invite.
After, SB Nation Recruiting spoke with Smith about his experience (see video above). A number of topics were discussed, including:
-What is Smith's current height and weight?
-What part of his game has he been focusing on the most during spring football?
-What does Smith consider his best attribute?
-What does the invite to The Opening mean to Smith?
-Which new offers has Smith received?
-Smith has a top 10, but which five schools stand out the most? What about each school sticks out to him?
-What does Smith want to study (he has a surprising answer!)?
-How does Smith compare the new staff at Vanderbilt under Derek Mason against the new Penn State staff under former Vanderbilt coach James Franklin?
-Does staying close to home matter to Smith? What impact does his brother Emmanuel playing for Vanderbilt have on his recruitment?
-Which visits are coming up for Smith?
