ORLANDO, Fla. -- Four-star linebacker recruit Keion Joyner finally arrived in Orlando after missing his initial flight to the Under Armour All-America Game week Monday. And he did so looking not like a prospect who had missed his senior season due to being dismissed from the Havelock (N.C.) High School team after getting in an argument that nearly led to a fight, but rather one who has been diligently working out and getting ready for college. Joyner checked in at 6'4 and 220-plus pounds, and says that he wants to be 240-plus.
Joyner spoke with SB Nation about what led to his dismissal, and what he learned from it. He also spoke about LSU and Florida State, the two schools who stuck with him throughout his troubles. Joyner discusses why he is close with coaches at each school and how they connect.
Plus, I asked Joyner to scout himself and discuss what he believes are his strengths and weaknesses. Joyner is deciding January 2 during the Under Armour All-America game at noon, but will take visits after that, and discusses how strong his commitment will be.
