Kirby Smart made a splash in his first two months as Georgia's head coach by putting the finishing touches on the nation's No. 7 recruiting class. Now, he's got a head start on the 2017 rankings after flipping four-star passer Jake Fromm from Alabama to the Bulldogs.
Fromm made the news official on Thursday morning.

The 6'3 quarterback is currently the 64th-ranked recruit in 247Sports' composite rankings and its fourth-ranked pro-style passer. He committed to Nick Saban and Alabama last October before reconsidering and also had scholarship offers from Ole Miss, South Carolina, Miami and Michigan State. His junior year highlights show off the strong arm and deft touch downfield that have made him a valued gridiron commodity.
He'll join a Georgia depth chart that is slated to include 2016 five-star quarterback recruit Jacob Eason, as well as Brice Ramsey, Nick Robinson and Sam Vaughn. That list may grow between now and National Signing Day. SBNation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott expects UGA to eventually sign two passers to its Class of 2017. Fromm is currently the sixth recruit to pledge to Smart and the Bulldogs for 2017. Alabama, meanwhile, is down to seven commitments after losing out on its big quarterback target.
