Four-star outside linebacker Quay Walker was an Alabama commitment until shortly before noon on National Signing Day. He flipped that commitment to Georgia in a ceremony Wednesday morning, making the Dawgs’ No. 1 class even better.
In announcing his commitment to Georgia, Walker ran a sort of double-reverse. He grabbed a Tennessee hat, then chucked it away. The uninitiated might have thought Walker would then reaffirm his Bama commitment, but — plot twist! — he then revealed a Georgia shirt.
Terrific execution. We haven’t seen a trick play like that since the Eagles were running it on the Patriots’ 1-yard line in the Super Bowl. It’s a zig, then a zag, then a zig again.
Walker is an elite player — the No. 31 overall prospect in the class of 2018 and its No. 2 outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite. Georgia is recruiting brilliantly under Kirby Smart and will finish 2018 with the top-ranked class, ending a seven-year Alabama run.
