As BCS rankings loom, the latest USA Today Coaches' Poll, which represents 1/3 of the BCS formula, got a shakeup Sunday, as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Florida Gators climbed into the top five as a result of key losses by others at the top.

The Kansas State Wildcats, No. 5 last week, surge into the No. 3 spot, just ahead of both the Irish and Gators.

The West Virginia Mountaineers go tumbling out of the top of the poll after suffering its first loss of the season at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders, as Notre Dame and Florida settle into more secure spots on the strength of important weekend victories. Both teams continue to chase the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 2 Oregon Ducks. Both teams will likely see that ranking reflected in tonight's first BCS rankings of the season.

Alabama enjoys unanimous support from the poll's voters, collecting all 59 available first-place votes this week.

The SEC holds on to four spots in the Coaches' Poll top 10, as the LSU Tigers climb to No. 6 after a victory over the previously No. 3 South Carolina Gamecocks, which fall to No. 8.

The Oklahoma Sooners, after a big victory over the Texas Longhorns, climb to No. 7, while the USC Trojans stay steady at No. 9 and the Florida State Seminoles round out the top 10 at No. 10.
