Boo Corrigan reportedly to be named new Boston College AD

Army Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan will reportedly be named the new AD at Boston College in a press conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

Boston College will name Boo Corrigan as its new Athletic Director at a press conference scheduled for Tuesday afternoon, according to Chris Curtis of 98.5 The Sports Hub Boston. Corrigan is the current Director of Athletics at Army, and has been rumored as a likely replacement for Gene DeFilippo. BC announced this past weekend that they had scheduled a press conference, and the immediate speculation was that a new AD would be introduced. BC has set it for 1:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

DeFilippo stepped down at the end of September, ending a 15-year run as the AD in Chestnut Hill. Corrigan will have some big decisions on his plate right away, particularly regarding the job status of Frank Spaziani. BC's head coach has been at the helm for the football program's precipitous decline over the past two years, but DeFilippo was a staunch defender. With his biggest supporter now gone, Spaziani's already tenuous job security will be put in further jeopardy. BC has yet to beat an FBS school this season, falling, coincidentally, to a previously winless Army team on the road in Week 6.

Corrigan has not been on the job long at West Point, beginning in February 2011. Prior to his time at Army, he served in the Athletic Departments at Duke and Notre Dame. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1990.
