Boston College will be hiring Brad Bates as the school's new athletic director, according to Heights Sports. The school has a press conference scheduled at 1:30 p.m., ET, when the new athletic director will be announced.
Bates has acted as the athletic director at Miami of Ohio since 2002. If he is the next athletic director at Boston College, he will replace Gene DeFilippo who stepped down from the position on Sept. 30, which ended a 15-year run. Since DeFilippo's resignation, senior associate athletic director John Kane has acted in an interim role.
In previous days, other outlets had reported that Boo Corrigan was going to be named the next athletic director at Boston College. However, conflicting reports also mentioned Quentin Williams as a possible candidate.
SB Nation's Boston College blog, BC Interruption, believes that Bates is most likely to be announced as the next AD:
With the press conference so soon, I am much more inclined to believe this report than all of the previous ones. Stay tuned for the official announcement to see what's in store for the future of Boston College athletics.
