The 2012 BCS bowl picture is likely to see a non-AQ finish ahead of the lowest-ranking AQ conference champion -- in this case, either Boise State, Kent State or Northern Illinois (or all of them!) above the Big East champion. And if one of those three can finish at No. 16 or better, it'll likely be going to either the Sugar Bowl against Florida or the Orange Bowl to take on Florida State.
Kent State's all the way up at No. 17, meaning a win over NIU would put them in very good shape to make the BCS, especially if UCLA loses. Don't count Boise State or NIU out yet, either. Sooners fans should probably root for Northern Illinois and Nevada and UCLA this weekend, though.

If none of the non-AQs can finish No. 16 or better, it looks all but certain that Oklahoma will play Florida in the Sugar and the winner of Louisville-Rutgers will play Florida State in the Orange. Everything else is all but set -- this is, of course, until something completely wacky happens next Saturday, as is custom.
Fun facts, via the National Football Foundation:
• First-time school(s) in the BCS Standings: Utah State and San Jose State. A total of 90 schools have appeared in the BCS Standings since they were created in 1998. Seven schools have made their first appearances in the Standings this season.
• Schools debuting in 2012 BCS Standings: No. 21 Northern Illinois, No. 24 Utah State, No. 25 San Jose State.
• Dropped out of BCS Standings: No. 18 Rutgers, No. 20 Louisville, No. 24 Arizona, No. 25 Washington.
• In the previous 14 seasons of the BCS, the teams ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the next-to-last week Standings have met for the BCS National Championship seven times, including each of the last two seasons.
• Kent State reaches its highest-ever place in the BCS Standings at No. 17 after debuting in the Standings for the first time in school history last week. The Golden Flashes' current ranking is the highest position for a MAC school since Ball State reached No. 12 on Nov. 30, 2008.
• For the second week in a row, the top nine teams remain exactly the same. The last time this happened in consecutive weeks was in the last two weeks of the 2000 BCS Standings.
