UCLA and Arizona went down to the wire, but Wildcat quarterback B.J. Denker threw an interception with less than two minutes to go, sealing the victory for the Bruins. With the win, UCLA took control of the Pac-12 South and will represent the division in the conference championship game if it can win its remaining games against Washington, Arizona State, and USC.
UCLA freshman linebacker Myles Jack stole the show in Tucson, terrorizing Arizona all night long on both offense and defense. Not only did Jack tally eight tackles and a forced fumble as a linebacker, but he also rattled off 120 yards on six carries as a running back, including a 66-yard touchdown run that put UCLA up 31-19.
The difference in this game was a matter of inches. Arizona was driving deep in UCLA territory when Jordan Zumwalt knocked the ball out of Ka'Deem Carey's hands as he was diving into the end zone -- just before the ball crossed the plane -- and Jack covered the ball for a UCLA touchback.
Box Score Hero: Myles Jack was absolutely unbelievable. He had 120 yards rushing and a touchdown on six carries and tallied eight tackles and recovered a fumble on defense. Either one of those lines would have been an exceptional performance on just one side of the ball.
Rankings Ramifications: UCLA came in ranked 19th in the BCS standings. With LSU and Miami losing in front of them, the Bruins stand to move up at least a few spots.
But Did They Cover? Arizona was favored to win by as much as 1.5 points. UCLA won by five, so the Wildcats did not cover.
