Baylor QB Bryce Petty on possibly leaving early for NFL - "I will definitely be back next year"
— Ricardo LeCompte (@RicardoLeCompte) December 2, 2013
Through 11 games of his junior year, Petty has thrown for 28 touchdowns against two interceptions and has emerged as a fringe Heisman contender. As a senior, he would certainly be one of the favorites for the award -- which was won by Baylor's own Robert Griffin III in 2011.
Petty's return would give Baylor extra stability -- it would be the first time since Griffin's departure that they have had a returning quarterback as a starter.
Our own Mocking the Draft rated Petty as the ninth-best quarterback available, behind UCF's Blake Bortles but ahead of Alabama's A.J. McCarron. Petty was also rated by MTD as the 68th-best overall prospect, which would project to an early third-round pick.
