Virginia Tech CBs Antone Exum, Kyle Fuller likely out for Sun Bowl

An ankle injury will likely keep Exum out of the Sun Bowl, ending his career with Virginia Tech. The Hokies could also be without one of their many Fullers.

Virginia Tech Hokies cornerback Antone Exum will likely miss the Sun Bowl vs. UCLA with an ankle injury, according to the program's Twitter feed. If the 2012 All-ACC corner can't play, his career at Virginia Tech will be over.

Exum has excelled for the Hokies, but the later years of his career in Blacksburg have been marred by injuries. He tore his ACL in January while playing pickup basketball, but was able to make it back midway through the 2013 season. Exum's return was short-lived, though, as this ankle injury took him out in November, leaving him with a senior season that spanned only three games. He'll leave the Hokies with six career interceptions.

Fellow VT cornerback Kyle Fuller is also battling a core muscle injury that required surgery, but his status is still up in the air for the Sun Bowl. Luckily, Virginia Tech has good depth at cornerback, with Kendall Fuller and Brandon Facyson playing well as freshmen.

Update: Senior Kyle Fuller could be out too.
