It's Championship Saturday, everyone. After this, it's just Army-Navy and the bowls. We miss you already, regular season. We miss you so damn much.
No. 1 Florida State 45, No. 20 Duke 7 | Full Recap
Duke held Florida State scoreless through the first quarter of the ACC Championship Game, but it was all Seminoles from there. Jameis Winston connected with Kelvin Benjamin on a 14-yard fade route on the Seminoles' first possession of the second quarter, and Florida State never looked back. FSU out-gained the Blue Devils 569 to 239 to win the ACC handily and will play Auburn in the BCS National Championship.
No. 10 Michigan State 34, No. 2 Ohio State 24 | Full Recap
Michigan State blew a 17-0 lead and trailed Ohio State 24-17 in the third quarter, but Sparty fought back to take the lead. Jeremy Langford's 26-yard touchdown run in the final minutes sealed the upset victory for Michigan State, eliminating the Buckeyes from the BCS Championship race.
No. 3 Auburn 59, No. 5 Missouri 42 | Full Recap
Gus Malzahn and his Auburn Tigers put on an absolute show on offense, rushing for --- yards en route to the win over Missouri. Tre Mason was the workhorse for Auburn, rushing 45 times (!) for 303 yards (!!) and four touchdowns (!!!) in the victory. One feels for Mizzou, who rolled up 42 points in an SEC Championship Game and still had no chance late, but the TIgers will be okay.
No. 7 Stanford 38, No. 11 Arizona State 14 | Full Recap
When Stanford wins, it wins with heavy doses of Tyler Gaffney and stingy defense. That's exactly what Arizona State was faced with in the Pac-12 Championship Game, and the Sun Devils were could not stop it. Gaffney ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries and even Kevin Hogan, usually thought of as more of a game manager, racked up 277 yards passing in Stanford's convincing win.
No. 17 Oklahoma 33, No. 6 Oklahoma State 24 | Full Recap
Bedlam! More like bananas-lam! Oklahoma put together a game-winning drive in the last two minutes of the game, capped by a Blake Bell touchdown pass to Jalen Saunders with 19 seconds left for the victory. The Sooners tacked on a TD as time expired when OSU's lateral-happy final play went horribly wrong, emblematic of Oklahoma State's Fiesta Bowl (and likely BCS) hopes dying there in Stillwater.
No. 9 Baylor 30, Texas 10 | Full Recap
Baylor overcame a slow start and thumped the punchless Longhorns, 30-10. With Oklahoma's upset win at OSU, Baylor takes the Big 12 and will head to the Fiesta Bowl to almost certainly face UCF. Bryce Petty threw for 287 yards in the win while Case McCoy managed just 54 yards on 31 attempts. Which raises the question: why the hell did McCoy throw it 31 times?
Bowling Green 47, No. 14 Northern Illinois 27 (Fri.) | Full Recap
The BCS dreams of Northern Illinois and the rest of the MAC were effectively torpedoed by Bowling Green, who torched the always-suspect Huskies D en route to 47 points and an easy victory in the MAC Championship. NIU superstar QB Jordan Lynch also kissed any sort of darkhorse Heisman hype goodbye in the loss, which was never really competitive after halftime.
No. 16 UCF 17, SMU 13 | Full Recap
Blake Bortles and UCF finished the AAC season the way they had played it all year: making plays in the clutch. Bortles busted off a 15-yard touchdown run in the dying seconds of the third quarter, giving UCF its first lead of the game and one it would not relinquish in the icy, deserted confines of Gerald Ford Stadium. UCF is now off to the BCS as the AAC's champion.
No. 19 Louisville 31, Cincinnati 24 (OT) (Thurs.) | Full Recap
Louisville took the awesome Keg of Nails trophy home with the overtime victory against Cincy, marking the last time the two teams would play for the trophy before Louisville heads to the ACC. The game featured 24 points scored in the last 8:08 of regulation.
No. 23 Fresno State 24, Utah State 17 | Full Recap
It came down to the wire, but Fresno State held on to win the Mountain West Championship. The Bulldogs led 17-0 but Utah State wouldn't go away and eventually cut the lead to 24-17. Fresno State had a chance to seal the game with a late field goal, but opted to go for it on fourth down. Utah State held and the Aggies had a final chance to tie the game. Craig Harrison was intercepted, however, and the Bulldogs secured the win.
Rice 41, Marshall 24 | Full Recap
Rice throttled visiting Marshall to claim the Conference USA championship and punch its ticket to the Liberty Bowl. The Owls used a balanced offense and strong game management to keep the offense on the field and sustain touchdown drives, and two of the Owls' scores came via passes by halfback Luke Turner.
UConn 45, Memphis 10 | Full Recap
UConn ends the year on a three-game winning streak... to go to 3-9.
Rutgers 31, USF 6
The Scarlet Knights become bowl-eligible with their convincing win over the hapless South Florida Bulls.
South Alabama 30, UL-Lafayette 8
The Ragin' Cajuns had already clinched the Sun Belt conference championship and a bid in the New Orleans Bowl, which perhaps explains this letdown to South Alabama. With the win, the Jaguars become the seventh Sun Belt team with six or more wins.
