Just about a month ago, college football fans were concerned that we could see four undefeated teams with a legitimate claim to the national title, one year before the four-team playoff was implemented. Alas, Baylor and Alabama fell in the regular season, setting up an easy-to-stomach (for all but SEC fans) title game between the two remaining power conference undefeateds -- Florida State and Ohio State.

That didn't happen. Auburn takes the spot, due to another week of mayhem.

First up, the Coaches Poll, via USA Today:

Conference Championship Week befell not only undefeated Northern Illinois but the Buckeyes, who lost to Michigan State. That result, coupled with a SEC Championship Game win for Auburn, puts the one-loss Tigers in the national title game against the undefeated Seminoles.

Auburn's your new No. 2, with Ohio State falling below Alabama and Stanford. Missouri also sees their stock fall, as does Oklahoma State, who lost to fierce rivals Oklahoma. Michigan State sees their stock rise, as does Baylor after a win over Texas (who again falls out of the polls). Arizona State sees a drop after their Pac-12 Championship Game loss to Stanford, while Northern Illinois falls drastically after their loss to Bowling Green. Duke also slips after a blowout loss to Florida State.
