This might not surprise you: the SEC is the biggest conference on college football Twitter. The league boasts six of the seven most-followed official team accounts, 11 of the 16 most popular official head coach accounts, Les Miles' NBA self-coverage, Bret Bielema's hater seminars, James Franklin's non-subtweets, and the biggest official conference account by more than 30,000 followers. And it has Herb Hand.
The conference also has more social buy-in than any other, with all but two head coaches* on Twitter and all but Missouri also having a dedicated football-only account, though the account billed as Gary Pinkel's fills that role. And then there's the stuff Florida's coaching staff does.

In terms of total football-only followers (the head coach's followers and the football feed's followers -- we're skipping assistant coaches for now), LSU leads the country, with Miles and the Tigers' football account combining to approach 210,000 as of publication. Tennessee has also crossed the combined six-figure mark, with Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M closing in. Alabama's sole football-only account tops 116 other programs, half of which have two football accounts.
