Everett Golson suspension changes Notre Dame's title odds

The loss of quarterback Everett Golson for the 2013 season has predictably caused Notre Dame's national championship odds to get a little bit longer.

Before Golson was suspended for the 2013 season, the Fighting Irish were looking at 28/1 odds to win the 2013 BCS Championship, according to Oddsshark. However, in the aftermath of that news, the Irish have dropped to 40/1, according to Bovada, and it's possible that line could continue to slip.

Golson confirmed that he was suspended from school due to an academic issue, but said that he currently intends on returning to Notre Dame after the fall semester. Time will tell whether he actually will return to South Bend, but what is clear is that he will not be playing during the 2013 season. A mystery SEC school (which is probably Mississippi State) is said to be pursuing him as a transfer, but that won't happen if he's serious about trying to suit up for the Irish in 2014.
