Mack Brown's Monday press conference: 'We are not giving up'

The embattled Texas head coach spoke to the media on Monday about David Ash and the team's 1-2 start.

After a 44-23 loss to Ole Miss -- the second straight for the Longhorns -- it figures to be another long week in Austin, filled with more talk about Mack Brown's future, more frustration at an underperforming team and more scrutiny about an astonishingly bad defense. He did not, however, project Texas to win the Big 12 this time.

Brown spoke to the media on Monday, addressing a variety of topics, including the defense.

Brown also offered some explanation for the team's struggles overall.

After replacing Manny Diaz with Greg Robinson, there wasn't a real discernible difference in Texas' performance against the run -- the Longhorns still gave up six yards a carry and allowed Ole Miss to roll up 272 rushing yards in total.

Mack Brown spoke a little more about Robinson on Monday, being careful to point out that it was his first week. The team does have an idea on what specifically needs improvement, though.

Brown also gave some personnel updates heading into Texas' game against Kansas State, where they will definitely be missing a major offensive weapon.
