LSU-Georgia hosting College GameDay, Week 5: Some fun facts

If past trends make for omens, the presence of ESPN's pregame show could be a great sign for the Tigers.

Scott Cunningham

Where: Sanford Stadium, Athens, Georgia.

When: Saturday, September 28th, 3:30 PM ET (12:30 PT) CBS

Notes and Statistics:

This is the second time Georgia has been on a GameDay game this year -- the Bulldogs opened the season with a 38-35 loss to Clemson. They carry a frighteningly bad 3-12 record in GameDay appearances, which include three losses in the SEC Championship, and three more in the Game Formerly Known as the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party.

Saturday will be GameDay's third visit to Athens, and the first one since 2008. Georgia will be hoping for a better result this time, though, as the Bulldogs lost each of those previous visits.

For LSU, this will be their 22nd GameDay appearance, where they hold an astounding 17-5 record, including two SEC Championship game wins, a Sugar Bowl win, and a 1-1 record in BCS Championship games.

The Tigers have hosted GameDay at Death Valley nine times. Surprisingly, 4 of their 5 Gameday losses have come at home -- LSU's fifth and final GameDay loss was in the 2012 BCS Championship game.
