So that's where John L. Smith coaches now!

New, comments

So good to see you, John.

It's been a while since the college football world checked in on John L. Smith, the one-time Michigan State coach who filled in for Bobby Petrino at Arkansas after that whole fiasco in 2012. We also know him from moments such as this, which we could really use more of this college football season.

It turns out Smith is coaching at Division II Fort Lewis College, a liberal arts school in Durango, Colo. Smith landed there in 2013 once he was done at Arkansas following a 4-8 campaign. He took over a Skyhawks team that was 0-10 the season before, and in his first year, Fort Lewis went 4-7. This year, the Skyhawks are 2-4.

Thursday night's game vs. the Colorado School of Mines saw Fort Lewis get down, 14-0, in the first quarter, at which point we caught this glimpse of Smith:

It's gotta be tough for him there, especially after seeing his opponent make plays such as this. Thoughts, Coach?

Be good, John. Perhaps we'll see you soon -- Arkansas still doesn't have that precious first SEC win under Bret Bielema.
