Michigan 'feels good about having their guy,' per report

If Harbaugh to Michigan happens, it will likely be soon.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

After reports earlier this month that Michigan would likely not get its target, Jim Harbaugh, to fill its vacant head coaching position, it's looking more and more likely that the Wolverines can lure him to Ann Arbor. Harbaugh was reportedly offered a massive, $8 million-per-year contract, and according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harbaugh is now more likely to take the Michigan job than he was before.

We could be getting actual news soon either way, as 247 Sports' Steve Wiltfong reports that interim athletic director Jim Hackett has met with the Wolverines' players and told them that they could have a new coach soon.

Wiltfong was told that the players were told that the Michigan administration feels good about having their guy but they want to make sure everything is signed etc... before moving forward.

The players were not told who it is.

Even though the players were not given a name, one can read between the lines and figure out that Harbaugh is Michigan's top target. Moreover, the timing would make sense, as Harbaugh's season with the San Francisco 49ers will end on December 28.

On the other hand, some NFL media members still think that Harbaugh would rather coach in the NFL. He'll have plenty of options, including the Oakland Raiders, who play just up the road from Santa Clara.
