Texas Longhorns players now publicly calling each other out on Twitter

New, comment

Wake up and smile, college football! It's your morning roundup.

Texas (Twitter) Fight! As the unraveling continues in Austin, players jumped on their social media platforms Monday to argue with each other about who is at fault for the Longhorns' disastrous start. If Texas decides the head coach is the problem, our A&M blog has a useful short list of replacements for Charlie Strong.

We're five weeks in, and everything has been blown up. Florida and Michigan are looking like the dominant teams in their respective divisions, like it's 1994. Conventional preseason picks like Auburn, Tennessee, Oregon and Wisconsin are damaged. And the Pac-12 is a complete mess, with Utah and Cal the last two remaining undefeateds. Bill Connelly tries to make sense of it all.

Rankings! Ohio State held on to the top spot in the AP and Coaches Polls, but has been displaced in the composite poll. The new No. 1? We have a tie! Bring your own guts! And Alabama has the lead in Football Study Hall's full, 128-team S&P+ rankings. Sorry, North Texas.

"I'm not dead yet! Feeling better!" Nick Saban snapped at media who "buried" his Crimson Tide after their loss to Ole Miss, finishing his tirade with a call back to Ivan Drago at the end of Rocky IV.

(No More) Damn Eagle. Auburn dismissed senior wideout Duke Williams Monday night for undisclosed reasons. "When individuals fail to meet the expectations of our program, there has to be consequences. I gave D'haquille the chance to prove himself. I am disappointed that it did not work out," Gus Malzahn said in a statement. The preseason All-SEC WR finished his final season with 12 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown.

Well, maybe not EVERYTHING is going great at Michigan. Defensive end/linebacker Mario Ojemudia will miss the rest of the season with an Achilles injury. Ojemudia had recorded 19 tackles and six tackles for loss so far this season.

#Big12Refs is spreading. The Big Ten crew calling Illinois-Nebraska is facing discipline for failing to award Illinois a first down on the Illini's first series of the second half, resulting in an incorrect turnover on downs. The news comes after the Big 12 announced it would discipline the crew that gave Oklahoma State an extra first down in a scoring drive.

Explorers everywhere! Never ones to cede ground to anyone, Tennessee is matching Oregon and breaking out gray uniforms against Georgia this weekend, with the Great Smoky Mountains on the helmet. Fans might need a new compass to recalibrate expectations for the Vols after the first five weeks.

So #B1G. Northwestern might be wearing 1995 throwback uniforms against Iowa in two weeks in honor of the Wildcats' Rose Bowl team from that season. Head coach Pat Fitzgerald, who played linebacker on that team, did not play in the Rose Bowl due to a broken leg ... suffered against Iowa.

Even #B1Gger. Could it be that Northwestern, Michigan and Iowa are improving the conference's chances in the College Football Playoff, even if none is yet in the conversation for the Final Four?

DANA HOLOGRAM. Uncle Luke, of 2 Live Crew fame, put out his short list for the Miami job. It included WVU's head coach, with his name spelled in an interesting way. Smoking Musket has the Photoshops.
