Mizzou's players and coaches are standing behind the players who announced they would strike from all football activities, due to the administration's response to racist actions on campus and in support of a fellow student's hunger strike. Coach Gary Pinkel tweeted his support, with a photo showing dozens of players and coaches arm-in-arm.
The athletes are demanding university system president Tim Wolfe to step down, but Wolfe released a statement and did not indicate he would. Hours later, Republican and Democratic state lawmakers called for Wolfe's job and some Mizzou faculty announced plans to walk out of class. Next up: a board meeting this morning as media descends on Columbia.
The Tigers did not practice Sunday, and it appears Saturday's game against BYU could be in doubt. If the game is cancelled, Mizzou could owe BYU $1 million. And ESPN is reporting one anonymous player disagrees with the movement. During such a tense time, empathy is the most important trait, says Rock M Nation.
This is still a complex story, but we can only understand the gist of it by listening to each other. Columbia's ABC 17 sports director Austin Kim explains in two minutes the value of all this for everyone: perspective.
Tiger turnaround. Florida State has had Clemson's number the past few years. This time, the Tigers finally took down the Seminoles. Spencer Hall observes from Death Valley.
Also, Spencer is begging for someone to beat Alabama, which ranks second in his Top Whatever rankings.
Remember when everyone was complaining about the Crimson Tide being in the top four of the College Football Playoff committee's rankings last week? Seems legit now.
Tricky Tigers. Auburn hid a tiny wide receiver behind its offensive line as part of a trick play, and Texas A&M couldn't see him!
These rankings don't matter anymore, but the AP votes finally put Clemson at the top! Ohio State still leads the Coaches poll.
Bowl projections. Michigan has the potential to knock Ohio State (and the Big Ten) out of the Playoff.
Awesome play. Don't let anyone tell you Arkansas's play to beat Ole Miss was illegal. It wasn't.
Podcasts! The Solid Verbal recaps a crazy week in college football, and Shutdown Fullcast marvels at Bret Bielema's backwards Hail Mary.
Welp, that's football. Ole Miss lost in improbable fashion to Arkansas. Why? Because football is dumb.
B1G East scenarios. Could Michigan win the Big Ten East and make the Big Ten title game? Here's the Wolverines' route to Indy.
Injury update. After a scary injury against Minnesota, Braxton Miller is doing "all right."
Mid-season crootin'. A good weekend continued for Michigan, which picked up a commitment from four-star defensive end/linebacker Carlo Kemp, and a bad one brightened for Texas A&M, which gained four-star offensive lineman Kellen Diesch.
Cougar comeback. Expecting a letdown from Washington State? Don't. This team expects to win, and that's what it's doing.
