Thursday night was just another casual evening in Clarksdale, Mississippi. A few tourists wandered down the Blues Trail. The weather was a brisk 40 degrees. Ole Miss standout Robert Nkemdiche (and a partner who may or may not have been his brother Denzel) laid down some sick jazz riffs at Morgan Freeman's Ground Zero blues club.
Wait, Morgan Freeman has a blues club?
WAIT, THE NKEMDICHE BROTHERS HAVE A JAZZ BAND?
Clarksdale has seen its share of musicians over the years. It's the home of Sam Cooke and the town where blues legend Robert Johnson played after mythically selling his soul to the devil. But few of those artists are bigger than the Nkemdiche brothers, at least physically. Here's Robert Nkemdiche after the set, showing no ill effects of his recent 15-foot fall out of a hotel room window.
Leading Ole Miss to a New Year's Day bowl? Playing a jazz set in the heart of blues country? It's all just another chapter in the books of the world's most interesting college football players.
