Iowa is going to its first Rose Bowl in 25 years, and it's safe to say Hawkeye fans are excited. Iowa fans flooded Indianapolis in previously unseen levels for the Big Ten Championship game, and given that crowd, ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit predicted that there would be at least 60,000 Iowa fans in Pasadena.
Unsurprisingly, the Rose Bowl is the hottest ticket in college football right now.
Avg sold ticket price on @StubHub: 1. Rose Bowl $420, 2. Cotton Bowl $281, 3. Orange Bowl $261, 4. Sugar Bowl $245.— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) December 29, 2015
A lot of Iowa fans were looking for tickets on StubHub, to the point where the "get-in" price for the Rose Bowl the day after the matchup was announced was three-and-a-half times the amount of any other New Year's Six or College Football Playoff bowl.
|Bowl||Matchup||Cheapest Tickets On StubHub|
|Rose||Iowa vs. Stanford||$518|
|Orange (Playoff)||Clemson vs. Oklahoma||$147|
|Sugar||Ole Miss vs. Oklahoma State||$129|
|Fiesta||Ohio State vs. Notre Dame||$124|
|Cotton (Playoff)||Alabama vs. Michigan State||$66 (standing room), $166 (seats)|
|Peach||Florida State vs. Houston||$25|
Iowa fans have done this before. There were an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 Hawkeye fans in attendance for the 2003 Orange Bowl against USC.
