A week after Missouri coach Gary Pinkel spit some hot fire by stating that Notre Dame should have to join a conference in order to be eligible for the College Football Playoff, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney is on board with Pinkel's suggestion, siding against his sort-of-conference-mate.

Swinney has another unexpected ally here: South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier, who said two years ago that Notre Dame should be forced to join a conference.
