Art Briles apologizes for Baylor assistant on sideline at Tulsa vs. Oklahoma

New, comments

This is a potential rules violation by a former Sooner who happens to be the Baylor head coach's son-in-law.

Baylor assistant Jeff Lebby was on the sidelines for Saturday's Oklahoma-Tulsa in what appears to be an NCAA violation. Coaches are not allowed to do off-campus, in-person scouting of a same-season opponent. Lebby may have just been visiting, not scouting, but Art Briles says he reached out to OU to apologize. He said Lebby's actions were "unethical," regardless of why he was there.

Lebby is Briles' son-in-law. He played at Oklahoma and is friends with a number of coaches on Tulsa's staff. Former Sooner J.D. Runnels said he thought Lebby was just there to socialize with friends. Briles said he was in Norman for a wedding.
