Texas somehow loses on a huge special teams mistake … again

Texas lost for the second straight week due to an enormous special teams blunder late in the game.

Last week, Texas lost to Cal because of a shanked extra point. This week, Texas lost to Oklahoma State because of a botched snap on a punt.

Oklahoma State tied the game with under two minutes to go, and Texas' offense went three-and-out, forcing them to punt. The snap from long snapper Kyle Ashby was perfect, but punter Michael Dickson just couldn't hold onto it:

Dickson, a true freshman from Australia, was able to scramble and boot the ball away, but his punt angled out of bounds behind the line of scrimmage. The result was a punt for a 6-yard loss, and Oklahoma State's kicker Ben Grogan nailed a 40-yard field goal with six seconds left to seal a 30-27 win for the Cowboys. Dickson has been pretty good punting the ball for Texas all season, but in an unfortunate moment, he lost the game for his team. Really, really hard to see.

The Longhorns fall to 1-3, with two losses due to special teams blunders. Brutal.
