Oklahoma captain the latest Sooner sick of SEC hype

"I've been hearing it since I was in high school. SEC, SEC, you know what I mean?"

Oklahoma plays Tennessee this week. You might have heard that people seem to think the SEC is pretty good! Senior Sooners captain and star linebacker Eric Striker takes issue with this, via the Tulsa World.

"Yeah, man, I don't know why people blow gas up their a** all the time. I don't understand why, you know what I mean? It sucks. Who is it?

"Let's prove the people that say this and that about ‘em, let's prove them wrong. But it never works. Next year, it's the same thing. I've been hearing it since I was in high school. SEC, SEC, you know what I mean? So it's never gonna stop."

There's some history here to know.

In 2013, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops called the SEC "top-heavy," and claimed the Big 12 was better overall. A few months later he took fire at the defensive units in the conference, suggesting they crumble when faced with a quality quarterback.

And then there was the Sugar Bowl following that season, a game in which the Sooners beat Alabama 45-31. Tide head coach Nick Saban blamed his team's performance on a lack of motivation for a non-title game, an excuse Stoops mocked mercilessly.
