Alabama vs. Tennessee 2016 odds: Tide favored to extend rivalry streak to 10

The Alabama Crimson Tide will try to continue their dominance over the Tennessee Volunteers as double-digit road favorites on Saturday.

Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 9-0 straight up and 6-3 against the spread in their last nine games against the Tennessee Volunteers. The Crimson Tide will attempt to extend that win streak to 10 games this Saturday afternoon in Knoxville.

Alabama is a 13-point road favorite at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. This game opened with a spread of Alabama -9, but steady early action on the Crimson Tide has moved the line a full 4 points towards the favorite.

It wasn't the Crimson Tide's best effort on defense, allowing 473 total yards and 30 points against Arkansas last Saturday, but it was more than enough for a win and cover in a 49-30 road victory.

Alabama established its ground game early, rushing for 264 yards on the day, and overcame two turnovers in the red zone to come away with the win. The Crimson Tide's ability to win in games even when they aren't at their best is a big factor in the team's current 18-0 SU and 11-7 ATS run.

In their last 29 games as a double-digit road favorite, the Crimson Tide are 19-1 SU and 14-6 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Alabama -13 / 57 Points

Trend: Alabama is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 games against Tennessee.

Trend: The total has gone UNDER in seven of Alabama's last 10 games in October.

For the fifth time in six games this season, Tennessee erased a double-digit deficit last week against Texas A&M, forcing overtime with two touchdowns in the final 2:07 of regulation.

But after trading field goals in the first overtime, the Volunteers' luck finally ran out in the second overtime as Texas A&M scored a touchdown and Josh Dobbs threw an interception to end the game. Tennessee will try to bounce back Saturday at home, where the Volunteers are 7-0 SU and 3-4 ATS in their last seven games.

Saturday's total is set at 57 points. The OVER is 6-2 in Tennessee's last eight games coming off a loss.

If Tennessee's flare for the dramatic this season has proven anything, it is that no opponent lead is safe. But going up against the best and most well-coached team in the country, Tennessee likely can't afford to fall into another big hole against the Crimson Tide if it hopes to pull off the upset at home.
