The Purdue Boilermakers were in the news this week, but not for anything they did on the field. Purdue announced on Sunday afternoon that it had fired head coach Darrell Hazell after four seasons. The decision came after the Boilermakers got off to a 3-3 start in 2016.
Wide receivers coach Gerad Parker will serve as interim head coach moving forward. The Boilermakers don't have an easy task coming up this week, with a road trip to face the undefeated No. 8 Nebraska Cornhuskers on Saturday. The Huskers' 6-0 start is the best since the 2001 season, one which Nebraska finished 11-0.
Last week, Nebraska beat Indiana on the road 27-22. Before Nebraska entered the Big Ten in 2013, the last time these two schools had met was in 1958, which resulted in a 28-0 Purdue victory. Nebraska won in 2013 and 2014, but lost to Purdue 55-45 last season.

Three big things to know
1. Purdue's offense is actually pretty solid: Yes, the Boilermakers are 3-3 so far this season, but Purdue's offense has been improved in the last three weeks. Purdue quarterback David Blough is the current Big Ten leader in total offense, averaging over 300 yards per game. Purdue wide receiver Domonique Young is also second in the Big Ten in receptions per game, with an average of six catches per game.
2. Nebraska performs well in the fourth quarter: Nebraska has managed to score 88 points in the fourth quarter this season, a number good for eighth in the country. The Husker defense has allowed just 13 points in the fourth quarter so far this season, which ranks fifth in the country.
3. The Husker offense is a balanced attack:Nebraska averages 233 yards in the air per game, and another 458 total yards of offense per game. Husker quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr. has thrown for over 1,300 yards on the season, along with 10 touchdowns. He has rushed for five scores, as well.
