Michigan vs. Michigan State 2016 odds: Wolverines are huge road favorites

Michigan will try to end its struggles against rival Michigan State this Saturday with the oddsmakers setting them as favorites of over three touchdowns.

The Michigan Wolverines are 1-7 straight up and 0-8 against the spread in their last eight games against the Michigan State Spartans. The Wolverines will try to turn things around this Saturday against the Spartans in East Lansing.

Michigan is a 24.5-point road favorite at Spartan Stadium at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Spartans opened as a 21-point home underdog, but steady action throughout the week on Michigan has made the Wolverines an even bigger favorite.

The Wolverines have been nothing short of dominant en route to a 7-0 SU and 4-3 ATS record. Michigan ranks third in the nation in scoring offense with 48.7 points per game and best in the nation in scoring defense, allowing only 10 points per game.

Road trips against Michigan State and Iowa would generally look like potential landmines, but with the way the Wolverines are playing on both sides of the ball, it's difficult to see them not heading into their final game of the regular season against Ohio State undefeated.

Michigan is 5-0 SU and 3-2 ATS in their last five road games under Jim Harbaugh, per the OddsShark College Football Database. The Wolverines were 1-7 SU and 3-5 ATS in their previous eight road games.

Betting Line / Total: Michigan -24.5 / 55 Points

Trend: Michigan is 1-7 SU and 0-8 ATS in its last eight games against Michigan State.

Trend: Michigan State is 11-4 SU in its last 15 games against teams with winning records.

Despite being the favorite in each of its last five games, Michigan State is 0-5 SU and ATS over that stretch. The Spartans averaged 19.6 points per game over the five-game losing streak while giving up 33.4 points per game, losing four of the five games by double digits. Michigan State is just 4-8 SU and 4-7-1 ATS in its last 12 games as a home underdog.

Saturday's total is set at 55 points. The UNDER is 5-2 in the last seven games between these two rivals.

Michigan State has never failed to make a bowl game in nine seasons under head coach Mark Dantonio, but that streak is in serious jeopardy in 2016.

Sitting at 2-5 SU and 1-6 ATS, the Spartans still have home games against Michigan and Ohio State and a road game at Penn State remaining on the schedule. Even as a huge favorite, Michigan won't take this game lightly given its recent history against the Spartans.
