Is Week 6 gonna be a good weekend of college football? Folks, every weekend is a good weekend of college football. I'm glad we had this discussion.

Let me hit you with four ranked-vs.-ranked games, a full weekend of pretty much nothing but conference games (Michigan State, you're playing BYU, and that's cool too), and a handful of major rivalries. The weeknights aren't so good, probably, but Saturday will be great.

Below is TV and online streaming info for each FBS game, with the whole schedule ranked by a subjective assessment of stakes, competitiveness, style, and what else is on at the time.

(Weeknight games removed, for your Saturday convenience.)

As always, notes on the WATCH THIS games:

  • If you're new to this, you might be tempted to not watch this year's Red River Shootout. Oh no, you always watch the Red River Shootout. I don't care if its participants have lost four games already. Per science, this is one of the country's least predictable rivalries.
  • [LSU-Florida has been postponed and possibly canceled.]
  • UH-Navy is one of the two or three most challenging games left on a Playoff contender's regular season schedule, and also a revenge spot for the Midshipmen, after last year's beatdown by the Cougars.
  • Tennessee-A&M, the SEC's No. 1 contender match! Bama plays both of these teams between now and Oct. 22, and this game will tell us which one to take slightly more seriously than the other.
  • Do not watch Washington-Oregon in anticipation of a good game. By all measures, the Huskies should stomp the Ducks. Watch to see what it looks like when a resurrected power takes out 12 years of anger on a fading rival. (And, if you're lucky, see the latest evidence that anything can happen in rivalry games! (But probably just the stomping.))
  • FSU-Miami should be a better game than you might expect, if you only look at scores and records. Take a look at this for some convincing. Also, the Canes start wearing their '80s throwbacks as of this weekend. Say no more.
  • Anything in this #Pac12AfterDark/#MountainWestNearMidnight slate is pretty good. I'm picking Wazzu-Stanford as the starting point, but mayhem will find us all either way.
