Steve Spurrier winks as Clemson fans loudly boo his Championship appearance

The former Clemson archrival was a guest before one of the Tigers’ biggest games ever.

Before the opening coin toss of the National Championship between No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Clemson, Steve Spurrier walked onto the field as an honorary captain. Clemson fans immediately started booing the former Florida Gators and South Carolina head coach.

SB Nation’s Richard Johnson, who was on the field for the opening coin toss, confirmed that it was mostly Tiger fans, who already make up the majority of Raymond James Stadium.

Look, I know Steve Spurrier beat you seven times as South Carolina’s head coach, but come on, Clemson fans; respect the G.O.A.T.
