North Texas improved to 4-2 on the season with a 29-24 win over UTSA on Saturday night, and the Mean Green did so in dramatic fashion. Down 26-22 with 1:07 left, North Texas had to drive 98 yards with no timeouts left. Mean Green quarterback Mason Fine led a brilliant, seven-play drive that gave his team a six-point lead with 10 seconds left. He found Rico Bussey Jr. on the last play for the TD, which was a beaut:

“They blitzed and [Bussey] was my hot,” Fine said of the TD via North Texas Daily. “I threw it on blind faith, I didn’t know if he was going to be there or not, and he caught it and made a play on it.”
UTSA got the ball back with 10 seconds left, and got just one play off to give North Texas the win.
That wasn’t Fine’s only clutch throw of the drive — he had five completions on the drive, only missing on two throws. One of his biggest was on 2nd and 10 from North Texas’ own 20, when he hit Michael Lawrence for 49 yards to get into UTSA territory.
Greatest final game-winning drive of the this season? That might have to qualify as one, certainly. With the loss, UTSA drops to 0-2 in conference play, losing 31-29 to Southern Miss last week
