Wake Forest quarterback John Wolford isn’t afraid to eat on the sidelines when he’s hungry. During Saturday night’s game between the Demon Deacons and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, Wolford began eating Sour Patch Kids while he was behind Wake’s bench.
From the looks of it, that box on the Wake sideline has all sorts of goodies in it, but you can’t blame Wolford for going with the Sour Patch Kids, which are especially delicious. He’s thrown for 131 yards and two touchdowns on the night so far, so it’s safe to say his in-game fuel choice is working.
Candy on football sidelines isn’t exactly common, but we have seen something similar before — back in 2011, during a Seattle Seahawks game, Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch ate some Skittles on the bench after scoring a touchdown.
From there, it became a bit of a Lynch thing — In 2013, he was part of a special Seahawks edition Skittles promotion, and he was featured in a Skittles add in a (fake) press conference while munching on Skittles.
Wolford is no Marshawn Lynch, but it’s too bad Sour Patch couldn’t team up with the Wake QB for some fun promotional-type stuff. See all the potential you’re throwing away, NCAA?
