The game formerly known as the world’s largest outdoor cocktail party may no longer have its unique title, but it still carries its own brand of cross-state hate between Florida and Georgia. On Saturday, the Gators can derail the Bulldogs’ College Football Playoff hopes with an upset win in Jacksonville. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on CBS (live stream).

Georgia as emerged as the SEC’s last standing competitor to Alabama’s reign of dominance through a 7-0 start. The ‘Dawgs have scored 170 points through four conference blowouts leading up to Saturday’s circled date against Florida. The Gators need a big win in order to wash the taste of a two-game losing streak from their mouths — and to begin trending back toward the top 25.

• Each team landed some blue chip talent for 2018 in the lead-up to Saturday’s showdown.

On Thursday, Georgia beat out Alabama for the talented Adam Anderson. The outside linebacker doesn’t say much, but he lets his play do the talking. Anderson is a 6’4, 215-pound beast with the frame to eventually be 240 or more. Georgia now has the nation’s No. 1 QB in Justin Fields, No. 1 RB in Zamir White, No. 2 OLB in Anderson, and No. 6 defensive end in Azeez Ojulari. Georgia has the No. 2 class in the SEC, second to the Florida Gators.

• Jim McElwain said he’s been getting death threats from disappointed Florida fans. The university might not buy it.

McElwain didn’t just not expand in public, though. He also didn’t expand in private, according to Florida. In an eye-catching statement Monday night, the Gators said the coach “offered no additional details” about threats facing him, his family, or other Gators.

• Florida’s out here talking trash to a team against whom it’s a two-touchdown underdog.

“I mean, you say they have a great quarterback — I get it,” Gardner said via 247Sports. “He’s throwing simple passes — I get it. Anybody can throw a slant — I get it. If you call him the best quarterback, so be it, but he has to play Saturday. We’re going to see what his best attribute is. If he can beat us with his arm, whoopty do.”

• That’s OK though. Georgia is more than happy to participate in hate week.

Just how many rushing yards will the Bulldogs rack up?

Sony Michel, Nick Chubb, and DeAndre Swift are the engine that drives the UGA offense, forcing defenses to load up the box and creating room for QB Jake Fromm to operate downfield. The trio has combined for 1,538 rushing yards in seven games this fall, including a 320-yard performance against Vanderbilt. If Florida can’t stop them, the Gators can’t win.

Georgia vs. Florida prediction:

Florida is uneven but dangerous in 2017. Not dangerous enough to stop one of the NCAA’s most devastating rushing attacks, however. Georgia takes this one without much drama.
