The first round of the Women’s College World Series from Oklahoma City kicked off on Thursday afternoon, and former LSU football coach Les Miles was on-hand to watch the Tigers on the diamond. In the stands, Miles carried on one of his more unforgettable traditions during his days in Baton Rouge — he ate some of the grass from the softball field.
He told ESPN’s Laura Rutledge after tasting it that the grass was “not bad.”
Miles typically got his nourishment from the grass at Tiger Stadium — he became known for being seen on the sidelines. There was this time during the 2014 LSU-Bama game.
And he famously appeared in the ESPN commercial for the College Football Playoff eating a grass smoothie.
The No. 13 LSU Tigers ended up beating No. 3 UCLA in softball on Thursday, and it was certainly nice of Coach Miles to give his former program of 12 years his support. We’ll see if his attendance in OKC continues as the Tigers’ season lives on.
