The Tennessee-Florida rivalry, summed up in a 9-second video

It’s a special breed of animosity, folks.

The Florida Gators beat the Tennessee Volunteers on a last-second touchdown pass from Feleipe Franks to Tyrie Cleveland. The final play and Gators victory sent Ben Hill Griffin Stadium into a frenzy. On Saturday evening after the game, a Tennessee fan posted a Facebook video of a Vol fan’s middle fingers being returned by a Florida player.

I hate that we lost but at least our players don't represent our team like this. I love a rivalry but be classy about it EDIT: I know our fans have done questionable things. They shouldn't have peed on the tebow statue but I'm not saying this over and over again: players are supposed to be controlled by coaches and fans are not. This is a representation of the control Jim Mcelwain and staff has on its players. If this was a Tennessee player I would be embarrassed. Athletes are held to a higher standard.

Ah yes, this sums up college football rivalries pretty perfectly, to say the least.

Per Florida’s roster, No. 21 is redshirt freshman defensive back McArthur Burnett, and No. 11, who’s only shown doing Florida’s Gator Chomp, is sophomore linebacker Vosean Joseph.

The Facebook video of this exchange currently has 752 shares already. Regardless of the Vol fan seemingly initiating the bird-flipping, there’s no way Florida will be able to justify middle fingers here, so this will probably be disciplined in some way.

The Tennessee-Florida rivalry has been highlighted by some wild finishes in the last four years, with Florida winning three of them. It hasn’t exactly been the cleanest, though. In 2014 after Florida beat Tennessee 10-9 in Knoxville, the entire Neyland Stadium started chanting “F*uck you Florida” loud and audibly.
