Let’s have Alabama and UCF settle the national championship debate in ‘NCAA Football’ Mascot Mode

New, comments

The Tide won the Playoff, but the Knights think they have a claim. Let’s put it to the test.

I used NCAA Football 14’s Mascot Mode to predict the semifinals and final of the College Football Playoff, going two for three. Georgia’s loss in the title game has an asterisk, because we all know that Georgia sports teams defy the laws of gods and men when it matters most.

Contrary to my mascot prediction, we witnessed Alabama defeat Georgia to win the National Championship. That’s cool.

BUT THAT’S NOT WHAT MATTERS TODAY! WE HAVE A NEW CHALLENGER!

Alabama’s made it this far, but it’s time for the ultimate matchup. Georgia? That was light work. The Tide must now defeat UCF on the mascot field in order to put an end to the Knights’ championship claim. Or can UCF beat Bama, now that it’s finally got Bama?

MASCOT NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! UCF vs Alabama!! WHO WILL WIN?!

Alabama won the National Championship, but UCF thinks the title should be theirs. Only one way to settle this: MASCOT FOOTBALL!

The full game is right there (or over here, in case it’s not loading for you), but for those who just want the quick version ...

... LET’S GET TO THE HIGHLIGHTS.

UCF gets going early out of the gate with a steady drive that leads to this 19-yard touchdown!

After an Alabama punt, UCF’s passing game stays on fire. Here’s a 55-yard BOMB that set up a 4-yard QB rushing touchdown.

In a 14-0 hole, Alabama strikes back with an ...

... interception! This leads to a field goal, and the first quarter ends with the game reaching blowout territory.

UCF 17, Alabama 0

After trading punts, Alabama finds a rhythm thanks to big plays like this.

That led to a touchdown and what seemed to be some momentum!

UCF had 1:46 in the half to put a stop to this. Do they?

OF COURSE!

UCF 24, Alabama 7

Alabama got the ball at the start of the second half in what felt like a must-score situation. The Tide calmly drove the ball down the field for an 80-yard drive to bring the lead down to 10!

PRESSURE’S ON!

UCF 24, Alabama 14

In the fourth quarter, UCF needed one more score to put this game out of reach. They get all the way down to the 1-yard line ...

Ballgame.

Alabama tried its best to muster some hope, but UCF wasn’t trying to hear it.

UCF 31 Alabama 14

Congrats to the real national champions, UCF!
