Clemson suggests a defensive lineman’s striptease dance video at a women’s clinic isn’t what it looks like

Christian Wilkins performed the dance over the weekend.

Clemson coach Dabo Swinney held a women’s clinic on Saturday on the Tigers’ campus. At one point during it, defensive lineman Christian Wilkins did a striptease dance in front of and partially on top of a woman seated in a chair:

Someone appears to have first posted Wilkins’ dance on Snapchat. It made its way to Twitter from there, and by early in the week, it was spreading among South Carolina fans who felt a star player on a rival team had gone too far.

Clemson gave this explanation of what was going on in the video.

Via The State:

Clemson Sports Information Director Ross Taylor said the video showed part of the afternoon program, a segment called “Dancing with the Tigers.”

Taylor told The State that the 55-second video of Wilkins dancing was not a reflection of what happened throughout the event. He did not comment on the specific actions in the video.

“I think what’s been going around is certainly not indicative of what was actually going on,” Taylor said, pointing out that other performances were not as racy. “Clelin (Ferrell) was dancing with his mother out there. I think the winner was swag surfing. That video that’s going around is certainly not indicative of what was going on the whole day.”

The school’s sports information director also said that the event was designed to incorporate Clemson’s strength and conditioning program. Without weights, the players involved performed a “body building pose-off,” he said, where the striptease happened.

Here are some other players who appear to have participated:

The woman in the video hasn’t said how she feels about the dance.
