Everything is going great at UConn

A partial list of things going on with the Huskies.

NCAA Football: Connecticut at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

1. UConn football is doing great.

The Huskies are 1-3. Their only win was against Rhode Island, an FCS team that’s not close to being one of the good FCS teams. In Week 2, they visited Boise State and got fired into the sun in one of the most comprehensive blowouts the sport’s seen in decades, 62-7.

They’ve also gotten pureed by UCF and Syracuse. They have lost their three FBS games by a combined score of 169-45. They are 129th of 130 teams in S&P+ rating.

2. Randy Edsall’s press conference on Tuesday went great.

UConn’s defense is thriving, giving up 54.5 points per game. After Wake Forest made news on Sunday with the ceremonial first major coordinator firing of the season, a reporter brought that up and started to ask Edsall a question about his own staff. Edsall replied, “What’s that have to do with us? I’m done. I can see where this is going.” He then high-stepped it out of the press conference like a receiver being chased by a UConn DB:

This was Edsall playing the hits. A few years ago, right after coaching his last game at Maryland but a day before the Terps fired him, he did the same thing:

(That’s me on the horizontally striped shirt there on the right! We all had fun that day.)

3. Randy Edsall’s comments to media on Wednesday were great, too.

Fortunately, things are going great, so there’s nothing to worry about.

If things ever stop being great, Edsall can just invoke this mantra:

So true.
