The college football season is actually happening now, so we’re getting top-25 rankings with actual meaning, instead of fleeting preseason lists that default to having Texas at No. 23. The sport’s major rankings roll out throughout the day on Tuesday.

There isn’t ton of movement at the top, though teams like Auburn, Notre Dame, and Virginia Tech are moving up across the board after big ranked wins.

The usual disclaimers apply. The only ranking that matters in the end is the Playoff selection committee’s ranking on Selection Sunday, and the committee can change its mind suddenly. It doesn’t even start to release weekly Playoff rankings until around Halloween.

We’ll update each of the following rankings as they release. These are usually out on Sundays, but because of Week 1’s weird schedule, it’s Tuesday this time.
