The 2016 Vuelta a Espana will continue on Thursday with Stage 12, which will take riders from Los Corrales de Buelna 193.2 kilometers away to Bilbao. There are a couple serious climbs in the stage, but overall the profile is one of the flattest throughout the Vuelta itself.
There is a Category 1 climb 40 kilometers into the ride, which should get some climbers some points early on. After a Category 2 climb, the remainder of the stage is generally a long descent, flattening out just before the finish.
The battle between Chris Froome and current leader Nairo Quintana is a fierce one, but won't be quite as fierce on Thursday. This is a calmer stage, and will be something of a break for both riders. It's looking like Stage 13 may be more of the same, with the two to resume hostilities on Saturday for Stage 14, which will see riders from Urdax-Dantxarinea through Aubisque/Gourette.
Thursday's stage gets underway bright and early at 6:35 a.m. ET. The stage will last a few hours, expecting to end just before noon. NBC Sports Gold is the best way to watch, with coverage beginning at 9 a.m. Below is a look at the stage profile and other information to watch the race.
