The 2017 UCI Road Championships, which is the 90th edition, will take place in Bergen, Norway from Sept. 17-24. The last time Norway hosted the big race was in 1993, the same year when Leontien van Moorsel and Lance Armstrong won the rainbow jersey.

Like every year, there will be a men's and women's road race. The men's and women's team time trials will commence on Sunday, Sept. 17. After that, a slew of other road races and time trial events are slated to take place.

The finish line of the men's time trial race is at the top of Mount Floyen, which is 3.4km. According to Cycling News, "The climb features gradients of 10 percent with the 31km course the shortest in the event's history."

The men's road race, which is the final event, will take place on Sunday, Sept. 24. The race itself is 276.5km long, the longest distance since the 1981 race in Prague. The competitors in the men's road race will ride 12 laps, while the women have to complete eight of them. The athletes in both races will compete on a 19.1km loop.

Slovakia's Peter Sagan, the men's road race world champion, is on a quest to capture his third consecutive rainbow jersey. Tony Martin of Germany is the men's time trial world champion.

For the women, Denmark’s Amalie Dideriksen is the current road race champion, and American Amber Neben is the current time trial world champion.
