Arizona hasn’t voted to put a Democrat in the White House since 1996, when Bill Clinton won the state that often elected Barry Goldwater to the Senate. But despite not voting for a blue teamer with more than 45.1% of the population this century, it appears Arizona is leaning towards Joe Biden in the 2020 election as we head into the tabulation of results.
Maricopa County is the prize here, holding around 60% of the population of the state with the city of Phoenix and surrounding suburbs. It’s the prize both candidates are chasing to claim a very important 11 electoral votes.
Also keep an eye on the Senate race between favored Democratic challenger Mark Kelly against previous-loser-but-appointed-anyway Senator Martha McSally.
